“Fawcetts have provided me with excellent financial support and advice during 2 business start ups and continuing growth. I have a dedicated adviser, Nick Jones who plays a key role in the management and strategic direction of my company and is always accessible for routine and impromptu meetings. Through personal experience i have experienced that the size and scale of a business is immaterial to Fawcetts – the commitment is always the same and they really make you feel as though you and your business matters. I have recommended Fawcetts and Nick to my colleagues and will continue to do so. ”

“Fawcetts provide excellent support tailored to our business needs. They are always available for advice and have a reassuring and professional approach that makes you feel as though you are their only client. James Hayes has expertly guided us through the process of choosing and implementing Xero as our new accounting system. We have found Xero to be user friendly, intuitive with many intelligent processes. Importing bank transactions to reconcile is a quick and easy task. James helped us utilise the tracking facility to enable us to look at profitability for each individual project. The flexibility of a cloud based system means we have access to financial information anytime, anywhere.”

His advice is always clear and candid, and he has demonstrated a flair for lateral solutions to many of the problems we have. He helped us to manage our set-up and has guided us as we grow, and is considered to be one of our most trusted advisors.”

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has opened a public pilot of Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT.
The pilot is open to sole traders and companies that are up-to-date with VAT, who have not received a default surcharge in the last two years.
Some other groups will need to wait to join, including those:
- trading with the EU;
- based overseas;
- submitting VAT returns annually;
- making payments on account;
- using the VAT Flat Rate Scheme; or
- who have never submitted a VAT return in the past will need to wait to join.
HMRC has also announced that a small number of the most complex businesses will have a six-month deferral to October 2019 before they need to comply with the requirements of MTD for VAT.
MTD for VAT will require businesses with turnovers of £85,000 or more to keep digital records and make quarterly digital submissions to HMRC using ‘designated software packages’ from next April.
